Xiaomi and PayJoy Access Expand Strategic Partnership in Mexico to Drive Smartphone Access
In a bold move to deepen its reach in the Latin American mobile market, Xiaomi has announced an expanded strategic collaboration with PayJoy Access in Mexico, aiming to unlock new opportunities for affordable smartphone ownership in underserved communities.
As smartphone adoption continues to rise across Mexico, affordability and accessibility remain key challenges for millions of consumers. Xiaomi, known for delivering feature-rich smartphones at competitive prices, is leveraging PayJoy Access’s device financing platform to make cutting-edge mobile technology available to a wider audience. This partnership is expected to boost Xiaomi’s footprint in both urban and rural regions of the country.
PayJoy Access offers a unique technology that allows consumers with little or no formal credit history to obtain smartphones through a secure, risk-managed system. By integrating PayJoy’s remote device lock feature and intuitive financing app with Xiaomi’s latest models—including the Redmi Note series and the popular Xiaomi 15—the two companies aim to facilitate monthly installment plans tailored to the Mexican market.
“Xiaomi is committed to making innovation accessible to everyone,” said a Xiaomi LATAM representative. “Through this partnership with PayJoy Access, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers to smartphone ownership: upfront cost. This will allow more Mexican consumers to participate in the digital economy.”
Looking ahead, the Xiaomi-PayJoy alliance is expected to expand beyond mobile phones. Talks are already underway to explore similar financing models for Xiaomi’s growing ecosystem products, including smart home devices, wearables, and tablets. The collaboration also aligns with Mexico’s broader digital inclusion goals by fostering financial literacy and connectivity through technology.
